It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

We have had a great week back at Trinity! We are starting to make Christmas decorations for our classroom, have been making our own "buildings" and we practiced drawing lines and curves. Yesterday we enjoyed a visit from the book mobile! 

We have many fun activities coming up in the next few weeks! 

December is such a fun month in Prek 3 !

Election Day 2012!

We voted today in PreK3! We started learning about buildings and have been reading different versions of the 3 little pigs. Today we made a sticky picture of 3 houses with one made out of Bricks, Straw and Sticks. We then got to pretend we were the wolf and huffed and puffed and tried to blow some sticks, straw and a brick block away. We then took a vote and everyone got to choose what they would build their house out of.  The winner of our PreK 3 vote was Bricks!

Fun during our Clothing Unit

We had a great time learning about clothing During October. We sorted clothes, had a clothing store dress up center, examined buttons on clothes and then even sewed our own buttons on to burlap and made fabric collages.  We changed our graph each day based on if students were wearing shorts, pants or a dress. We made paper people and described the kind of clothes our paper people were wearing and also made a class book called "I'm growing" with pictures of clothes that the children wore when they were a baby. Mrs. McRae's Mom, Mrs. Sue Sue was a special visitor that talked to PreK 3 about knitting. This Friday, Mrs. Jenny Hall is going to come and show us how she makes clothes.

Five Senses Fun 2012

We had so much fun exploring our five senses last week! We painted with strawberry paint and learned a five senses song. We decorated bears with different textures. We made orange scented play dough, had a taste test on Friday and for our final activity we explored all five senses and had a popcorn party. We also made a class book based on the book "It looked like spilt milk" We had so much fun exploring our senses! We use our senses everyday!

September Fun!

We have been in school for a Month now and our class is doing great! We have so much fun making new friends, playing in centers and learning during our small groups and circle time. We know the rules at school and we are excited when we earn cotton balls for being quiet, polite, and respectful at school. Everyone is learning to recognize their name which can be pretty tricky when we have lots of names that have the same letters. Enjoy some photos from recent school activities.

We read the story Mouse paint and talked about mixing primary colors. Then we mixed colors on our own!

We tossed the dolphin in the bucket and had to say if he went in the bucket or out the bucket

We made our letters with handwriting without tears lines and curves and then rolled dough to make lines and curves. We can make letters even when it is hard to write them using pencils or crayons.

Also thanks to everyone who came to the picnic it was so much fun! 

Welcome to 2012-2013 in PreK3!

Hi everyone! Welcome to our prek3 blog! What a whirlwind start to the new school year! Your children are settling in to our daily routine and having a blast learning about all the things we do in PreK 3. During September we are continuing to focus on learning the rules of our classroom,  recognizing the first letters in our names, and talking about our families and things that make us special. I am enjoying getting to know all of your children and look forward to our family picnic next week. Enjoy some recent pics from class activities!
