Christmas is Coming!

Christmas is getting closer everyday! At school we have been talking about Advent and that the real reason we have Christmas is because we are waiting for baby Jesus at school. We made advent wreaths and your children have enjoyed adding flames to their candles just like we light the big advent wreaths at school. Last week we had gingerbread week. We made a gingerbread house, baked gingerbread cookies and had a gingerbread hunt. It was so much fun to find and eat our gingerbread cookies. This week we are busy finishing up our special Christmas gifts that we have made for you, we are celebrating Boyd's birthday and we will also have a fun Christmas party with Mrs. Kobetz's class on Thursday. Thanks to everyone that has sent cookie decorations and special treats this week. Your children have loved them! Please enjoy some photos from recent activities at school. Thanksgiving & Grandparents day fun!

We had so much fun getting ready for Thanksgiving! We learned about the feast that the Pilgrims and the Native Americans shared together for Thanksgiving.  The Tee-Pee & Mayflower Center was so much fun to play in during center time.

We made delicious pumpkin muffins at school! The recipe was  so very easy, just mix a can of pumpkin with yellow cake mix and a dash of cinnamon.

We also enjoyed making the butter for our Thanksgiving family breakfast. 

Julian turned 4!

Your children did a wonderful job singing in church for Grandparents day! I was very proud of them.
It was so nice to meet your parents and show them your child's school.

Getting ready for Thanksgiving!

We are busy at school getting ready for Thanksgiving! We are so excited that parents and Grandparents with be joining us at school on Thursday and Friday. I have included some pictures of different activities from this week and last week and I encourage all of you to support the pottery raffle. I look forward to visiting you all and meeting your children's grandparents on Friday.

We talked about Apple Orchards and made apples.

Every day we hunt for shapes around our classroom.  Max found and Oval shaped football.

We are making turkey hats to wear on Thursday and Friday.

We all worked together to paint pottery to raffle off for Grandparents day.

Thanksgiving is a happy time and we are excited that many of you will be visiting our classroom this week.

Rocking into October!

October has been a very busy month. We are learning about the body, Halloween, Sizes, and so much more. The children love this song. If you ask them to tell you what month is it? They will all quickly tell you October!

October 13-21 PreK3

Please enjoy some pictures from the last 2 weeks in PreK3. We are still working on our bodies, We celebrated Max's 4th Birthday, the LSU fire truck came to visit, we are woking on Halloween Art projects. I enjoyed meeting with all of you on Parent Teacher Conference day and I look forward to a great second quarter! This week we are talking about our heart and lungs and also getting ready for Halloween.

IPAD Apps

As you know we have been using An Ipad in the prek3 classes this year. Some of you have inquired about Ipad app suggestions. The children love using and listening to stories on the Ipad. Some Apps I use are free while others cost a few dollars to use. Some Ipad favorites have been,

Magnetic Letters Lite: A free app that has letters, I used this today to practice name recognition

Story Chimes: They love the 3 little pigs story. There are many other stories too

Fish Preschool: An numbers, colors and letters app based around ocean chararacters

Toy Story read along: The Toy Story 1 app is free. The Children can listen to the story and pictures move

Dem Bones: A singing and dancing skeleton app

I hear ewe: This app makes many different sounds

ABC's and Me: A free letter number and color app

A Bee Sees: A letter number & color app in which a Bee has to pop balloons

Zoodles: This free app has some great educational and fun videos,

Spooky Playhouse: a new halloween app with matching, shape, and counting games.

There are new apps coming out constantly so I am always on the look out for new ones. Feel free to comment and share if you have a favorite Ipad app!

Our Brain is a Machine!

Today we learned about our Brains! We learned that our Brains are very important because they are like machines that tell the rest of our body parts what to do. We sang a song to the tune of the farmer and the dell that goes like this, My Brain is a Machine, My Brain is a machine, It helps my body move and think. My Brain is a Machine!
We also passed around a foam brain & glued paper brains onto our paper bodies. Her are some photos of todays Brainy activities.

Learning about our Bodies During October

For October we are going to be talking about our bodies and we will end the month with some Halloween activities. This week we have a hospital in our Dramatic Play Center. We are also learning that there are some body parts that we can see like our skin, our eyes & our hair.  There are also body parts that we cant see such as our heart, brain & lungs. We will learn some new songs and be making life size human body charts. We are also talking about 2 color patterns, singing different ABC songs and learning what rhyming words are. Don't forget that we have spirit day on Wednesday and your child can have free dress meaning they can wear a dress, T-Shirt, or Jeans in the colors of their favorite sports team. The spirit day costs $1 and the money raised will benefit Ariana Engler, a former Trinity Student.

Welcome Fall!

Today was the first day of Fall! We are going to study about the season of fall for the next 2 weeks. We read the stories "Fall leaves Fall" "When Autumn Comes" and "Leaf Man" We are also going to be sorting and matching leaves this week as well as making fall artwork.

Don't Forget open house for the public is tomorrow from 9:30- 1 & from 5:30-7:00. This is a great way to share what we do at Trinity with potential families.
